About Times Academy

Established in 1998, Times Academy was officially opened by the then Minister of Human Resources, Y.B Datuk Dr. Fong Chan Onn on April 14, 2002. Started with only a class of about 20 students in Kuala Selangor, we moved to Kwang Hwa High School in Klang and later to Kajang in 1999 upon approval as an accredited center of Jabatan Pembangunan Kemahiran (JPK) under Ministry of Human Resources in the field of Automotive (P -115) for Level 1 to 5. Our students number progressively grow from 20 students to 500 students a year, and we keep upgrading our technical courses, from certificate level to Higher Diploma (HD) level, which is equivalents to the UK University’s honors degree second year.

In 2006, Times Academy worked together with City & Guilds International (UK Professional Technical Awarding Body), to customize the one and only Automotive 3S Diploma program, focusing on specialized topics such as Auto Servicing , Spare Parts Management and Auto Sales techniques.

In 2007, Times Academy engaged a team of specialists to establish the Automotive Mechatronics training, specializing in Mercedes Benz's technologies. The said training course was customized and awarded the Advanced Diploma in Automotive Mechatronics by City & Guilds International, whereby Times Academy is the only City & Guilds centre in the world to have the exclusive right to conduct the Automotive Mechatronics Advanced Diploma course. The program supports the global motor vehicle manufacturers’ products by maintaining the high standards of quality and safety demanded by their customers and by law. The skill level takes the candidates to the level appropriate for a person attaining diagnostic skills in specific areas of motor vehicle engineering.

In 2009, Times Academy has another breakthrough to work together with City of Sunderland College UK, to setup the Higher Diploma courses in Malaysia, to enable skill graduates to proceed to the University for further studies. The Higher Diploma graduates will enroll direct into degree program final year, and it saves time and cost significantly. The Higher Diploma courses are better suited for student because it is a combination of higher technical and higher academic education, which will equip the graduate with both skill competency and higher theoretical knowledge. The Higher Diploma has two streams for students to choose from, either in Engineering studies or Business Management studies. We are a partner to University of Glyndwr (Wales), they will accept all our Higher Diploma graduates into their final year degree program. We guarantee the final year entry for our Higher Diploma students to the University. Business Management students in Times Academy will have special entitlement to obtain full sponsorship to study in UK for free.

In 2010, Times Academy has worked together with Technical Resources and Internship Network (TRAIN), a non-profit organization to recruit various technical students in the country. Times Academy also established “Institute of Tackling Economics Challenges” (i-TEC), the philosophy of i-TEC is to establish a technical course that will enhance graduates' competitiveness and have a stronger “earn-ability”, or as refer to the ability to generate incomes and improve the economy of the country. Times Academy has introduced three unique courses under i-TEC, namely:
  • Techno Entrepreneurship – a unique skill course to train school leavers and guaranteed the technical business to students after graduation. • Professional Technician Development via Continuous Professional Development C.P.D. – a specialized skill course to train and groom professional automotive technician, and providing a platform for continuous development. Our country needs the technician who practices professionalism and continuously upgrading themselves in terms of technical competencies and management knowledge. Times Academy has certified more than 1000 skill personnel in the country. Recently, Times Academy has worked together with Ministry of Higher Education and Tabung Pembangunan Kemahiran (TPK or known as National Skill Fund), to carry graduates internship training program, a systematic internship monitoring program by City & Guilds. Times Academy is expected to train thousands of graduates from the public and private institutions and Universities.
