City of Sunderland College

The City of Sunderland College was formed in 1996 by the merger of two existing colleges. The college has 5 main campuses spread across the city:
  • Bede Centre for English Language courses and ‘A’ Levels/Diplomas
  • Shiney Row Centre for Higher Education Diploma programmes, Foundation Degrees, Access and Foundation programmes, short vocational programmes and the International Office
  • Hylton Centre has many vocational programmes including Catering, Engineering and Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy
  • Usworth Sixth Form Centre for ‘A’ Levels and Further Education Diplomas
  • St Peters for ‘A’ Levels and Travel and Tourism programmes
  • In addition, the College has other specialist centres, including the Teleport at Doxford Park specialising in Business and Contact Centre training programmes.
The college has 4,600 full-time and 11,000 part-time students on a wide range of programmes. The high quality of the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Networking, Call Centre Operations and Building Services programmes at City of Sunderland College has been recognised by the award of the Centre of Vocational Excellence (CoVEs) status by the government.

International students
Located in the North East of Wales, Glyndŵr University offers a friendly and academically challenging environment with an excellent reputation for its teaching quality, state-of-the-art study facilities and supportive staff.

The 2008 Research Assessment Exercise, used to assess the quality of research in higher education institutions across the UK, found that research at Glyndŵr University is of national, international and world leading significance. Research underpins all academic programmes at Glyndŵr University, ensuring students are exposed to the latest ideas at the forefront of their fields of study.

Glyndŵr University graduates have an excellent employability record. The latest results of the Destination of Higher Education Leavers Survey 2006 show 92% overall employability for our students six months after graduation.

Free accommodation for international students. New international students benefit from free accommodation for one academic year/37 weeks. The University has a range of accommodation options to suit the individual needs of students.

All Glyndŵr University degrees are awarded by the University of Wales. Recognised across the world by academics and professionals, a University of Wales degree will get you where you want to be.

Full English language provision. Glyndŵr University offers English language classes that improve not only your spoken and written English but also your academic English. Classes take place weekly and are delivered by the University’s English language tutors.

Dedicated careers service. The Careers Centre at Glyndŵr University offers a range of information, guidance and services to students, graduates, employers and academic staff. They organise a subsidised placement scheme, advertise part-time and full-time vacancies, and have an on-site job shop and a graduate job club.
